Free-Agent Clubhouse: Church, meeting room, hang-out space, DJ. What more do you need for an office?

There is a great article here in Wired about a clubhouse in Amsterdam called Baby. It contains a massive open-plan room, meeting rooms, and a nightclub/dance floor. It is home to 5,500 free agents of all descriptions who come here to work, think, plan, write, shmooze, collaborate, and yes, go to the lounge for a drink.

I have a lot of colleagues my age and we all work independently or in very small teams and we have often discussed the idea of a common work-space but they have all been a bit less…interesting…than this idea.

I love this concept. I wonder if this would fly in Vancouver? It could be downtown, have views of the city and the mountains, be close to a good pub (because getting a license for it in Vancouver would take FOREVER), preferably have great high ceilings and fantastic lighting, and would be dog and kid-friendly.

What do you think? What would you add to it?
